The challenge

Housing finances can be complex, with information spread across different products, services and touchpoints. We wanted to create a more connected experience that would help customers understand their home and finances as a whole. Whether they already own a home or are saving for their first.

The concept

Min bolig brings housing-related information together in one place across SpareBank 1’s online and mobile banking. It combines property insights, personal finances and visualisations to give customers a clearer picture of their housing situation.

Customers can explore things like property value and development, loan status, repayments and monthly housing expenses. The experience adapts to the customer’s situation and highlights information that is relevant to them.

Designing for understanding

One of our main goals was to make housing finances feel less complex and more approachable. Instead of relying on heavy numbers and financial terminology, we used visualisations, explanatory content and interactive elements to help customers understand their situation.

We simplified graphs, used progress bars to make numbers easier to understand, and created a clear content hierarchy to bring important information forward. Illustrations, icons and dynamic content help guide customers through the experience, while calculators and calls to action invite them to explore and take action.

Because housing finances are highly individual, we also designed the experience to give customers flexibility in what they explore and interact with.

How we worked

Together with a cross-functional team, we worked iteratively with user insights, prototyping and testing throughout the process. We explored ideas early, used feedback to refine the experience, and continuously balanced customer needs with business and technical requirements.

The experience starts from the overview page and connects seamlessly with other parts of the bank, as well as EiendomsMegler 1. Property value and price development are supported by continuously updated third-party data.

The result is a more connected way for SpareBank 1 customers to understand, explore and engage with their housing finances.
