Stop racism against asians

With the uprising of hate crimes against Asians during the Covid19-pandemic, especially in the US, there were some noticeable effects in Scandinavia. As an Asian male born in Norway and a designer, I used my voice and skills to bring awareness to the topic. Together with Justine Nguyen and Huy Le Vo, I created a safe platform for youths and adults with backgrounds from South Asia to come forward.

The t-shirt, designed by me and printed at the local print shop 10/10, is a product of the initiative and the urge to help. We manage to sell over 400 pieces only by sharing on our own social media platforms. For each piece we sold, 100 kroner was donated to the Norwegian center against racism: Antirasisk senter. With high demand by locals and residents from Australia, Sweden, and Denmark we donated around 40 000 kroner.

The print is inspired by rice bags, with 8 languages (Japanese, Norwegian, Taga- log, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian, and Korean) saying “Stop racism against Asians”. The tree in the middle is a Norway Spruce, to show that we’re Norwegians with different roots. On the sides of the tree, it’s saying “Fuel up” in Chinese, together with Oslo and 2021.
